The good news is the Blue Jays are interested in Mark Buehrle. The bad news is, about 13 other teams are as well.
It’s a good time to Be Mr. Buehrle and his agent as his rather pedestrian 13-9 win-loss record and 3.54 ERA looks mighty good compared to the rest of the free agent pitchers. Plus, he’s left handed.
So with that in mind, what he’s worth and what he’s going to get are two very different things. looking a little deeper we can see that he hasn’t finished more than four games over .500 over the past six seasons. Some of that may not be his fault as the White Sox are all over the map. Over 11 seasons he has a career ERA of 3.83.
Surprisingly (at least to me) he’s only 32. I’d have guessed he’s a bit older than that.
All though many people consider C.J. Wilson the big prize this off-season, I’d prefer Buehrle of the two if a season is on the line. But as mentioned before, getting Buehrle isn’t going to come cheap.
On the uniform front, the Orioles have a new (old) logo for next season.
Personally I liked their previous, more realistic looking bird better. But I’m sure some of their older fans like the return of the cartoon.
Still anxiously anticipating the Jays’ updates on Friday….
